India's macro economic growth along with it is bringing a "health transition", in terms of shifting demographics, socio economic transformations and changes in the disease patterns- with increasing degenerative and lifestyle diseases and altered healthcare seeking behavior.

Healthcare providers have been struggling to cope up with the double burden of diseases i.e. Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases, Healthcare Sector is graduating towards more sophisticated, technology intensive healthcare delivery formats, to cater for the widespread chronic diseases.

Currently Indian Healthcare Industry is US$ 60 billion, it is expected to reach US$ 250 billion by 2020. India still lags behind the developed economies and emerging economies such as Brazil, Russia and China in provision and availability of adequate health care infrastructure.
